New Educator Joins ACE

Today we had a quick chat with Anne Neill who joins the ACE training team in Lismore. Welcome Anne.

ACE: What’s your career journey looked like so far?

AN: I’ve worked in the Early Childhood industry for more than twenty years. My journey began as an Assistant Educator to a Director. I have been an Early Childhood Trainer and Assessor for the past ten years working with a wide range of students from varying backgrounds.

ACE: What motivates you to teach?

AN: My students, as they are passionate and eager to learn and share their own stories which inspires me to do what I do.

ACE: What’s the best part of your job?

AN: Watching my students grow and seeing their excitement and hearing their stories especially once they start placement. And of course, when they gain employment and graduate! Reaching their goals is priceless.

ACE: You’re delivering our Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2020. Can you tell us what students will be learning and where this qualification can take them?

AN: The Certificate III offers most of the core units for the Diploma of Early Childhood consisting of 18 units ranging from first aid to supporting children’s behaviour, legal and ethical requirements, child protection just to name a few.

ACE: Is there ever a dull moment in the Early Childhood sector, and can qualification this lead to something else?

AN: Absolutely no dull minutes. Early Childhood is always changing, it is a challenging yet rewarding industry with so many options to further your career within education and the Early Childhood sector.

ACE: What’s your Tips for course success and job seeking?

AN: Being on placement at a Centre is really the best job interview you will ever have. As a student, the Centre is able to see first-hand who you are and what you are like as you are not just a resume being handed to them. If you apply yourself, show initiative and develop a great rapport with children and the staff than in most cases the Centre offers our students employment.

Cheers Anne, we love your positive outlook and all the experience you have to share with students seeking to build a career in Education. Thrilled to see you around the College.
