There are so many wonderful stories to share this week we just had to add this one.
Before we get started just imagine for a second what it might be like not to have a driver’s licence – it would possibly impact on most aspects of your life. How would get to work, do the shopping, see family, be involved in sports or social networks?
Our award winning Aboriginal Driver Education Program is breaking new ground. Over the last 8 weeks we have helped 13 consecutive students go for and gain their licence. A new record.
The truly encouraging thing is that we are experiencing higher success rates (students gaining their licence because of their focus and commitment) and a broadening of the age profile. In the most recent group the ages ranged from 17 to 71 years – and that’s amazing. Plus the word is spreading the students were from Maclean, Yamba, Ballina, Casino and Lismore.
For many the experience has been empowering, creating a level of independence that many take for granted and has worked to build self-confidence. Congratulations to each and every student on their achievement, we are so proud.
