Helping to change the world

But don’t take our word for it.

See what’s happening across the ACE community.
Courage can change the world – it really can.

We recently caught up with ACE graduates from across our College community to talk careers, motivation, pathways and ultimate goals. Check it out. What they have to say is refreshingly good stuff so we are sharing. If you are short on time we encourage you to select the location closest to you and start exploring.

Jemsea Cresser

“Being in the industry whilst studying improved my knowledge and understanding and hugely benefited me! Now that I have completed my Certificate III I am going to travel for a few years. When I come home I will be better off – I can use my qualification to get back into the early childhood setting and continue my love for teaching whether it be in a centre, nannying or coaching.

I was unsure about study as I hadn’t studied since completing high school but any help or assistance you need you will get from the trainers and staff as well as colleagues working in the industry already. There is such a large team of people to help that there’s really nothing to be nervous about!”

“I did this course as I left school in year 11, I really enjoy being around young children so thought this would be a great career path. I loved the environment at ACE, it is very welcoming, and I felt very comfortable coming to class. I enjoyed the face-to-face training and having great supportive trainers. The course helped me enter my early childhood career and obtain a job in this field at a local centre, which I am really loving!

I enjoyed the experience and support so much at ACE that I am now going to further my studies and enrol in the Diploma level! My message to everyone is, do it, you will not look back. You may be nervous starting something new but ACE made it so welcoming for me, and really helped ease any worries I had from the moment I had my interview to my first day in class, it was definitely the right decision for me.”

“ACE was always going to be my choice, it had the flexibility for me to study while I worked, using online learning.

The big unexpected was that I actually liked it! I genuinely don’t like studying, but doing my course through ACE with Karen as my trainer I gained a confidence I didn’t think I had when it comes to education. I actually finished not one, but two qualifications. Along the way I changed from thinking I would work in disability to aged care. On placement at Uniting Aged Care in Goonellabah I realised pretty quickly that I had a great relationship with the residents and wanted to make a difference in their lives. It is far more rewarding work than what I was previously doing. I went from my course, to employment and have also started as a buddy for other students from ACE. What a result! Honest, just do it. If you’re not doing anything, what do you have to lose by studying?”

“After years in the IT industry, I was searching for a more. I knew I had to make the change. I needed something to galvanise me to lead a wholesome, giving life. Resting is rusting, I want to bring about that 1% change in the world.

And I did, overcoming any and all hurdles along the way. It was like looking at Mt Everest, but the trainers enabled me to focus on one task at a time, one step at a time. The constant feedback and classroom discussions kept us engaged and focused. What the course offers is brilliant but means nothing without the likes of the ACE Burleigh Team. You guys rock!”
