First Step, Believe

First Step, Believe

It’s always a great day when we get to share stories like this! We sat down with Certificate III in Individual Support student, Bussakorn to hear all about her journey.

“I was already working as a Wellbeing Carer in aged care before studying. I enjoyed supporting residents, helping them stay active, and making their days brighter through meaningful activities and companionship. I wanted to build on my experience by gaining formal qualifications and improving my skills so I could provide the best possible care. I wanted a qualification that would help me start a meaningful and rewarding career.

The best part of my experience with ACE was the support from Neil [Gold Coast Manager] and trainers. They were friendly, approachable, and always willing to help whenever I had questions. The learning materials were easy to understand, and I felt encouraged throughout the course. One of my biggest challenges was balancing study with work and personal responsibilities. But I stayed organised, managed my time carefully, and asked my trainers for help whenever I needed it. Their support gave me the confidence to keep going until I completed.

This course gave me the practical skills and knowledge to begin working in aged care or disability. It has helped me build meaningful relationships with residents and provide quality care every day. I now have a career that I genuinely enjoy and find rewarding.

It’s never too late to learn something new or change careers. Studying as an adult can be challenging, but it’s absolutely worth it. Believe in yourself, ask for help when you need it, and take one step at a time. The support from ACE made the journey much easier, and I’m very glad I decided to do it.”
