Our Adult Learners Week Ambassador

We’re proud to announce that our amazing student Zemach has been chosen as one of Adult Learners Week’s ambassadors for 2026! We’re sharing his inspiring story right here with our ACE community too.
Before moving to Australia 14 years ago, Zemach lived in Ethiopia where he worked as a primary school teacher. He was passionate about educating and nurturing young people to find their potential and follow their dreams. After leaving Ethiopia due to civil war and genocide, he first moved to Kenya before arriving in Australia as a refugee.
Since arriving in Australia, Zemach studied English before working as a labourer in construction and later in factories. Wanting to improve his skills and create new career opportunities, he was referred to ACE’s Coomera campus to study Individual Support. It was recommended that he first complete the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, to strengthen his English reading, writing and oral communication skills and unlock his maximum potential.
Zemach successfully completed the course (with flying colours!) and saw a significant improvement in his foundation skills. He’s now enrolled in the Certificate III in Individual Support, putting him on the pathway towards the meaningful career he had envisioned for himself.
“I wanted to try a different career in Australia. To help people, give back to the community and service the community. I want to help elders who are vulnerable. It feels meaningful.”
For Zemach, adult education has opened the door to new skills, greater knowledge, more opportunities to work in the community sector and the chance to meet new people. He describes ACE as a welcoming place where he has felt supported from the beginning. Just weeks into the course, he is progressing well and enjoying both the learning environment and the course content.
“ACE is a nice college, it’s good. I like it. Lovely people, giving us all the necessary support and that helps me feel I can have a good pathway for the future. I feel confident, feel welcomed and excited for what’s to come in the future.”
Zemach is looking forward to finishing his Certificate III in Individual Support before continuing his education at university. He plans to build a career in the health industry and continue making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
His story is a wonderful reminder of the power of adult education, and its power to #ChangeYourWorld.
