ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This one-day workshop is carefully designed to equip you with the essential steps and practical tools needed to begin your career as a support worker within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Whether you are looking to work through an agency or prefer to operate independently, you will benefit from valuable insights and guidance from an experienced expert in the field.
GETTING STARTED IN THE INDUSTRY
During the session, you will learn about the necessary steps to launch your career in support work. This includes understanding which certificates and credentials are required, the process for clearance checks, and the types of insurances you need. You will also gain clarity on how the NDIS operates, including how to interpret and navigate the NDIS Price Guide.
KEY SKILLS AND RESOURCES
The workshop covers the complete NDIS participant journey, from initial application to successfully securing a NDIS package. It also highlights the key resources available to support workers. You will discover how to create effective service agreements with participants and how to establish professional support arrangements that meet the needs of both the support worker and the participant.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This comprehensive and practical session is suitable for both new and existing community care workers. It is designed to support anyone interested in starting or enhancing their career in the support work sector. This training is non-accredited.
TRAINER
This workshop is facilitated by O’Neal Harral, a registered NDIS provider at AHR Supports which provides support coordination services across Australia. He has completed a Diploma of Counselling, Diploma of Mental Health and a Diploma of Youth Work.
With over 10 years’ experience working in the disability and community services sector, O’Neal has a background in mental health, physical disabilities, Indigenous communities, and family/domestic matters.
He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with others pursuing careers in disability support work.
