Lismore 20 December 2018

Welcome Angela, New Lismore College Manager

After a whirlwind first week we caught up with Angela Kristo, the new Lismore College Manager to say hello and see what she has in store.

ACE: What’s your career journey looked like Angela?

AK: Well I’ve worked solidly in the Education Sector for the last seven years as an online academic in the digital platform. I love my work, my real joy is seeing students thrive; reaching out to their goals and chasing down their dreams – it’s a pretty amazing space to work in.

ACE: Super congratulations on your appointment Angela, what’s drawn you to ACE Community Colleges?

AK: I relocated to the Northern Rivers from Sydney in 2016 and was looking to join a team that was ingrained in the community. ACE certainly ticks all the boxes and I’m really looking forward to being a part of the team here. When not working you can catch me surfing in Byron at The Pass and at Wategos.

ACE: There’s a lot of buzz in education and training circles at the moment – what’s your take on that?

AK: I have a strong belief in education and that everyone in our community should have access to a quality training and education opportunities. Delivery modes are evolving rapidly, including the online platform which will help people in rural areas access education which is very exciting.

ACE: So what is your role really all about and what can we expect in 2019?

AK: I have taken on the role as College Manager here in Lismore and there are many big projects on the schedule for 2019. One in particular has me working hard and that is moving some courses over to the digital online platform. It already looks amazing. I know that some people are daunted by online learning but with new technology and simple navigation tools it really is an exciting way to learn for many. I can’t wait for 2019 to begin.
