Career Start supports Queensland job seekers to start their career or move into more skilled roles or full-time employment.
You can participate in either a general training pathway, or an employment-based apprenticeship or traineeship pathway. You’ll receive reduced-cost entry-level training aligned to the skill outcomes required by industry.
Career Start provides eligible Queenslanders with:

Career Plus will expand access to subsidised training in specific qualifications that meet critical workforce skills needs, by allowing more flexible eligibility under the Career Start and Career Boost programs.
Career Plus aims to: Support eligible Queensland adults, including mature-aged individuals, to upskill or reskill so they can return to the workforce, adapt or advance in their current role or career pathway, or transition to a new occupation or industry; Deliver accredited training to target cohorts who are ineligible for or have exhausted entitlements under Career Start or Career Boost.
Eligible qualifications are available through a general training pathway or employment-based traineeship or apprenticeship pathway.

Career Boost helps Queenslanders to level-up at work, enabling them to grow and apply their skills to existing or new roles, and support productivity growth and workplace innovation.
The program delivers training to help individuals develop the higher-level skills needed to secure employment, advance their careers, or progress to further education and training.

Fees are based on nominal hours. A nominal hour is the number of hours a unit of competency is expected to take for delivery, learning and assessment.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work helps eligible Queenslanders develop skills, gain qualifications and provide direct assistance to enter and stay in the workforce.
The programs are delivered across the state by community-based organisations, local councils, Parents and Citizens’ and Parents and Friends associations.
