Description
In this workshop you’ll create your very own unique rug using tufting techniques. Learn the basics of operating a tufting gun and within minutes, you’ll be creating a designer rug. Use new and recycled yarns to create a one-of-a-kind piece and have some fun along the way! Take advantage of our small class size for an even better learning experience.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Introduction to using a cut pile tufting gun
- Choosing the correct primary fabric and yarns
- How to stretch the fabric onto the frame correctly
- Learn to transfer your design/drawing onto the fabric
- How to complete your rug – gluing, backing, trimming
TRAINER
Kelly Hunt has been a Northern Rivers local for over 19 years, drawn to the beautiful culture and nature of the area. Whilst primarily working in the Community Services sector, she has always gravitated toward art expression for healing and self-care. This has included painting, drawing, poetry, sewing, welding, clay, and of course rug making. She regularly hosts creative wellbeing classes, bringing people together and encouraging connection through art.
MATERIALS
All materials are provided, but colours are limited so you may like to bring your own new, recycled, or vintage yarns in the exact colours you are looking for. Please ensure they are 4-8ply, not cotton or velvet covered. You will need approx. 2kg of yarn for this project.
Rug designs are supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own simple inspiration.
