Creative Soap Making
Join a fun (melt & pour) soap making workshop. No dangerous chemicals are used. The workshop provides a demonstration of the basic soap making process and a range of techniques such as layering, embedding, marbling, additives & making picture soaps. You will be able to create your own wonderful, unique, handcrafted soaps - perfect to give as gifts to your family & friends. $60 needs to be given to the tutor on the day to cover the cost of your individual soap making kit (this includes soap base, fragrance, colour & mould) plus other materials & equipment used. You will take home your own soap items plus there will be enough base ingredients left over to make more at home.
Decalcomania Plus
Decalcomania is an artistic term for press and pull paint this action creates exciting and unusual effects that can then be built upon. We will be creating various grounds the first day as works needs to be dried overnight and work can begin on building them the following day. This workshop opens the door to another interesting START and allows each participant to explore their own individualistic expression with an exciting fresh approach. Then, using and incorporating some simple techniques, we can shift the personal perspectives in order to make art more original and exciting. Short demonstrations as well as artistic theory are used to build these works with one on one support within the group environment allows for each artwork to be unique and individual.
Drawing from the Beginning
Yes, you can learn to draw! This course explains why we have difficulties drawing what we see. We will use a series of exercises in this comprehensive course to help train the eye (and brain) to "see" as an artist sees.

Drawing from the Beginning - Continuation
This course follows on from the Drawing for Beginners offered in February. Those with basic drawing skills are also welcome to join. With your new drawing skills, we now look at tools and techniques for achieving realistic 3-dimensional drawings. Learn how to draw the elments of a landscape, fur and feather effects and faces.Week 1 - introduction, drawing clouds, water; Week 2 - trees, leaves and grasses etc; Week 3 - glass, fabrics, still life and start animals; Week 4 - animals and birds; Week 5 - portraits.

Fabric Sculpture
In this beginners class, you will learn the simple techniques that are the building blocks of many larger and more advanced sculptures. By the end of the day you will have completed a small figurine sitting on a stand.The sculpture is made from scratch on a wire frame and then bound with fabric in the colour of your choice. Fabric Sculpture - Level 2
The sculptures you make in this class can be larger and more detailed. You will have time to give the framework more definition and strength. This will allow you to position your sculpture in different ways. You will be able to add different fabrics, textures and colours. More attention will be given to dressing the sculpture, accessories and finishing touches.Materials can be purchased on the day and are available individually or as kits. Kits will cost from $50 to $90 (depending on the size of your project).To minimize your costs start a collection of your favourite things eg. Clay is a powerful medium as a means to create and express. Willow is a qualified Art Therapist and facilitator with a passion to awaken the depth of possibilities that art offers. She provides a safe environment to freely express and discover your true nature. Course fee covers costs of materials used.
Glass Reflections & Colour
Painting reflections is fascinating but difficult to grasp. This workshop simplifies the approach with the exciting subject matter of glass and colour. We will look at reflections and decode their patterns, shapes, tones and designs. Simple techniques and art theory are used to explore and build on these works. Short demonstrations with one on one support will allow each artwork to be unique and individual. Lucja is well known for presenting challenging workshops that are always great fun.
Jewellery Smithing for Beginners
In this course you will complete three or more pieces of jewellery in sterling silver. You will learn to design and size your own special ring, a linked, chain bracelet, and solid cuff bangle. Skills taught include sawing, filing, sanding, polishing, annealing and soldering precious metal. The course sets you on a path to explore Gold and Silversmithing as a Fine Art or to prepare a portfolio for a jeweller's apprenticeship. To cover the cost of sterling silver and hardware, $65 will need to be paid to the tutor on the first day.

Patternmaking for Designers
This course is structured for people who want to learn the art of drafting patterns. It will suit those working (or wanting to work) in the clothing business or those just wanting these skills for personal use. This course is introductory. Classes will cover skirt designs, personal block construction, bodices, cowls, sleeve designs and the opportunity to design and produce three garments. Some knowledge of basic sewing is helpful. Students will be taught by a qualified patternmaking facilitator with experience in the fashion/entertainment industry. This is an intensive course that will fast track you to knowledge of patternmaking, block construction & garment design.

Photography - Beyond the Basics
