Introduction to HTML/CSS

A knowledge of HTML, the text markup language behind web pages, is useful for designers, content creators or simply the curious web surfer. In this hands-on workshop we will build some web pages using a simple text editor and web browser, and through this process learn how the web's building blocks are put together. You will learn how to insert images, links and other content into a web page and how to apply customised styling. No prior knowledge is required although basic computer skills will be helpful.

Scribus - Open Source Desktop Publishing

Scribus is an open source desktop publising program. It is a FREE alternative to Adobe InDesign and other commercial software packages. With Scribus you can design and produce print advertising, brochures, business cards, calendars, newsletters, magazines and just about any other type of print material. This course aims to introduce you to the main features in Scribus as well as self-guided project material of your own choice.

HTML/CSS and Joomla Template Editing

Being able to edit a Joomla template or create one from scratch are essential skills. In this session you will learn how to add positions, adjust layout elements and customise the styling of your Joomla template. Through this you will learn the fundamentals of HTML, style sheets, and be introduced to PHP, the engine behind Joomla. An up and running Joomla site will be helpful for this session.

Basic Excel 2007/2010

Learn how to open and save a workbook, edit, format and use multiple worksheets, use basic formulae and functions, work with graphs and charts, and sort data. Word Processing Fundamentals

Create stunning presentations and engaging slideshows that include words, diagrams, pictures, charts and movie or sound clips as well as note pages and audience handouts. Excel 2007/2010 - Databases

Learn about auto filter and advanced filters, using forms and subtotals, pivot tables, dBase functions and more. Enrolment prerequisite - Excel skills.

Advanced Word Processing Features

Cover advanced functions such as modifying Word options; using a range of formatting techniques to position text; defining and modifying lists; creating and using various types of tabs, building blocks, templates and section breaks; creating and applying styles; performing mail merges; and advanced table and graphics features. Excel 2007/2010 - Formulas and Functions

Learn about dealing with error messages, using arrays and IF functions, And, Or and nested IFs. Round, Index, Match and String functions are also included in this workshop. Enrolment prerequisite - good working knowledge of Excel.
